The Republic of Armenia ratified the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol in 2019, undertaking a commitment to phase down the use of HFCs (F-gases) in Armenia.
The Ministry of Environment is responsible for ensuring the fulfillment of these international commitments, which require close cooperation with other state bodies, local government and representatives of the professional community for the proper performance of this important work.
To this end, the Ministry of Environment, organized a meeting on February 22, 2022 with the participation of relevant stakeholders under the “Armenia-KIP Preparation” Project jointly implemented with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
Representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Ministry of Economy, State Revenue Committee, Police, Yerevan Municipality, Refrigeration Association of Armenia, experts of the NOU Armenia attended the meeting.
The main issue on the agenda was the identification of possible and effective mechanisms for data collection on pure HFCs and HFC-based equipment used in the field of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat supply.
Representatives of the state bodies presented their viewpoints on the possible effective mechanisms of collecting the required information.
Wrapping up the meeting, an agreement was reached to ensure cooperation with the representatives of the departments in order to properly fulfill the commitments undertaken by the country. It was decided to apply various data collection techniques including official and non-official correspondence, extended and non-extended working meeting-discussions between the partners upon need.
