During the meeting the participants were briefed on the background of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol «Օn Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer», the process of international negotiations, the adoption of the Kigali Amendment at the 28th meeting of the Parties in 2016 and the ratification process in the Republic of Armenia.

The cooperation between the Ministry of Nature Protection and «Teach for Armenia» Educational Foundation was launched on April 13, 2019 at the French University. About 60 fellow teachers from different regions of Armenia participated in the event.

On 27 March, 2019 the National Assembly ratified the Kigali Amendment of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer presented by the First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia Irina Ghaplyanyan.

The agenda offered two issues for discussion:  1. Development of educational standards of "Refrigeration Facilities" specialty, and  2. update on the Regional Training Center establishment and nomination of the candidates as trainers.

The meetings started with presenting the importance of the International Ozone Day, 16 September, the necessity of raising awareness in this regards, and also the thematic poster with the theme «Keep cool and carry on» designed by UN Environment.

In her opening speech the First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Irina Ghaplanyan emphasized the importance of protecting the ozone layer in climate change mitigation and noted with satisfaction the successful efforts of Armenia in the implementation of the Montreal Protocol.

On 19 December, 2018 training of 40 specialists in the field of RAC (Refrigeration & Air Conditioning)system took place in «Hyatt place» hotel in the framework of HCFC Phase-out project, Phase II.

On 26 October, 2018 the representatives of the National Ozone Unit were invited by the Aarhus Center Yerevan to participate in the awareness-raising event organized for 30 students of the State Academy of Crisis Management of MES, RA and the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan.

An awareness raising course was conducted by the National Ozone Unit on September 19, 2018 for little students of Adamyan School. 

A series of events were organized within the framework of the National Ozone Unit dedicated to 16 September, the International Ozone Day, the main objective of which was to raise public awareness and the coverage of the sector-related processes.
