On August 12, 2025, Aparan, declared the "Youth Capital" of the year, hosted a series of events with the joint support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and the UN Office in Armenia, including panel discussions, an exhibition and various competitions.
The National Ozone Unit, supported by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia and UNIDO also participated in the exhibition, in cooperation with the RAHE Armenian Association and Armavir Regional State College.
Within the thematic pavilion on ozone layer protection, NOU representatives and graduates from the Refrigeration Economy faculty of Armavir Regional State College presented the value of the profession and its role in maintaining the ozone layer.
With the support of the RAHE Armenian Association, the students also demonstrated the identification of gases (refrigerants) using a gas analyzer.
The visitors to the pavilion included Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Artur Martirosyan, Head of the Cooperation Department of the European Union Delegation to Armenia Frank Hess, and others.
Congratulating the youth, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan noted that this year’s slogan announced by the UN, “Youth Local Initiatives to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and Beyond,” emphasizes the significant contribution of young people to community life. Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized that attention to young people should not be limited to just one day of the year: they should be involved in the discussion of every important issue. According to the Minister, the new law “On Youth Policy” allows this process to be institutionalized and continuous.
