MEETING WITH STUDENTS

On 26 October, 2018 the representatives of the National Ozone Unit were invited by the Aarhus Center Yerevan to participate in the awareness-raising event organized for 30 students of the State Academy of Crisis Management of MES, RA and the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan.

The National Ozone Focal Point Liana Ghahramanyan made  welcoming remarks, and continued in an interactive mode speaking about the environmental issues, presenting the importance of preserving the ozone layer, problems that undermine its existence, and the measures that are taken by the Government of Armenia to address them within the framework of commitments undertaken by the Vienna Convention and the Montreal Protocol.

Liana Ghahramanyan presented the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, 16 September , and the events that took place on that occasion, which was followed by screening a video «Precious ozone - the size of it».

Further the meeting was joined by Anne Fenner, Information manager of UNEP OzoneAction located in Paris, by  Skype. She briefly described the functions and activities of the branch and introduced OzoneAction's various publications to the students, mentioning an easy access opportunities for them.

The event was concluded by a QA session and distribution of the information notebooks produced by the NOU Armenia. It is notable to mention that the NOU Armenia received requests from two students to volunteer for upcoming NOU events.
