Meeting with Customs Officers

A meeting with customs officers was held on December 26, 2024 at the Customs Service Training Center under the project “Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building” jointly implemented by the Ministry of Environment and UNIDO.

The meeting discussed the new legal regulations related to the import of controlled substances (ozone-depleting substances, hydrofluorocarbons, and their mixtures) that will come into force on January 1, 2025. Particularly, it was highlighted that mixtures containing hydrofluorocarbons (refrigerants) will become subject to licensing. In addition, customs officers were informed that the import of controlled substances in single-use containers into the Republic of Armenia is now banned.

The new regulations were presented by the NOU experts and the chairman of the Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating Engineering Armenian Association. The chairman provided an overview to the customs officers on the significance of single-use and refillable containers, demonstrating their features , applications, positive and negative aspects.
