Increasing Importers' Awareness: National Labeling Requirements
28.03.2025

On March 28, 2025, a meeting was held within the framework of the "Additional activities for maintaining energy-efficiency in the refrigeration servicing sector" project, dedicated to increasing awareness among companies importing household cooling and air conditioning equipment.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Environment and Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the State Revenue Committee (SRC), the Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating Engineering Armenian Association,  companies importing HVAC equipment and NOU exports.

In the first part of the meeting, the NOU expert and engineer from Zvartnots International Airport provided participants with an overview of Armenia's legal regulations on labeling imported devices, as well as the relevant EAEU legal act outlining energy efficiency and energy-saving requirements for these devices—"Energy Efficiency Requirements for Energy-Consuming Equipment" (TP EAEU 048/2019)—which is set to enter into force in September 2025.

Representatives of the SRC Customs Service introduced entrepreneurs to the requirements for clearing goods under the "release for domestic consumption" customs procedure, as defined by the EAEU Customs Code. They provided details on import customs duties and tax obligations, including their calculation, payment deadlines, and the release process for goods declared under this procedure.

Additionally, during the discussions, the NOU representatives reminded entrepreneurs that within the framework of the Project, and in cooperation with the National Standardization Body, the EN 378 standard consisting of four parts has been fully adopted in Armenia.

Representatives of Shtigen LLC and Vega World LLC emphasized the need to reinstate the relevant faculty in higher education institutions to support sector-specific engineering education. In this context, a Shtigen representative noted that, for training of their specialists, they are forced to rely on foreign experts, which is considerably more expensive.

Participants highly valued the organization of such events, noting their importance for strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors.
