On September 10, 2024, in the framework of World Ozone Day celebrations, another public awareness event took place.

Ms. Liana Ghahramanyan, the National Ozone Focal Point, was hosted by the youth channel «Im Radio» of the Public Radio.

Ms. Ghahramanyan presented Armenia’s efforts to restore the ozone layer and noted that years of work have not been in vain, as the ozone hole is shrinking. She urged everyone to make their own contribution to the protection of the Earth's ozone layer, which serves as a protective shield against the sun. As an example, she recommended entrusting refrigerator repairs to trained specialists who will prevent the release of ozone-depleting substances into the atmosphere.

During the broadcast, special attention was given to the urgency of monitoring the UV index, and it was advised to avoid going outside between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM to protect oneself from the harmful effects of UV rays. If going out is unavoidable, it is recommended to use sunscreen, wear sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and long-sleeved light-colored clothing.

The events dedicated to World Ozone Day are carried out within the framework of the «Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building» Project jointly implemented by the Ministry of Environment and UNIDO.
