Stakeholder Meeting 2025

On February 13 and 14, 2025, a stakeholder meeting was held within the framework of the projects implemented jointly by the Ministry of Environment, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The meeting focused on sharing the achievements of 2024 and presenting the approved project directions for 2025.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, State Revenue Committee, National Body for Standardization and Metrology, directors and trainers of Yerevan, Arara, Armavir and Tavush Regional Colleges, members of the RAHEA, private sector representatives, and experts from the National Ozone Unit.

Welcoming remarks were made by Mr Halvart Köppen, UNEP Regional Coordinator for Europe and Central Asia, Ms Elena Micheva, UNIDO Industrial Development Specialist, Mr Zhirayr Edilyan, UNIDO Country Representative in Armenia, Ms Arpine Panoyan, Head of the Atmospheric Air Policy Department of the Ministry of Environment, and Ms Liana Ghahramanyan, National Ozone Focal Point.

On the first day of the meeting, the actions carried out within the framework of the projects during 2024 were presented. Specifically, within the framework of the "Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building" program, discussions covered the development of legal acts, the accurate and timely collection of consumption data for substances controlled by the Montreal Protocol, the submission of reports, initiatives to enhance stakeholder collaboration, awareness-raising efforts, and other relevant topics.

Subsequently, within the frameworks of the "Preparation of Inventory of Banks of Used or Unwanted Controlled Substances" and "Additional activities for maintaining energy-efficiency in the refrigeration servicing sector" projects, discussions covered energy efficiency and waste management policies in Armenia, sectoral regulations, the existing technological potential in the country, as well as the process and results of data collection under these projects.

On the following day, February 14, participants were presented with KIP Stage I activities which included strengthening the legislative framework, enhancing the technical, professional, and law enforcement capacities in the refrigeration sector, and more.

At the conclusion of the meeting, discussions focused on the HPMP Stage III project document, which was submitted for approval to the 96th exCom. The discussion also emphasized strengthening connections with stakeholders within the framework of planned actions, with the expectation of collaborative engagement in the projects.

The event was attended by 17 women and 19 men.
