On December 16, 2024, within the framework of the "Additional activities for maintaining energy-efficiency in the refrigeration servicing sector" project, a stakeholder meeting was held, dedicated to the application and entry into force of the technical regulation on "Energy Efficiency Requirements for Energy-Consuming Equipment" (EAEU regulations).
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, the Market Surveillance Inspection Body, as well as members of the working group formed within the "Additional activities for maintaining energy-efficiency in the refrigeration servicing sector" project.
The discussion focused on ensuring the technical regulation aligns with international standards, as well as exploring the prospects and timeline for its adoption and implementation in Armenia. Consideration was also given to the professional scope required for the regulation's introduction, its potential benefits, the appropriateness of phased implementation, and the negative environmental impact of not implementing the regulation in the sector.
A representative of the Ministry of Economy emphasized the risks associated with the potential delay of the regulation's enforcement until 2028, particularly due to the absence of consensus among the EAEU member states.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to regularly provide stakeholders with updated information regarding the ongoing process of the regulation’s application. This exchange of information will help identify possible solutions and explore legal and procedural interventions.
Furthermore, on December 19, 2024, Liana Ghahramanyan, the National Ozone Focal Point, participated in the working group meeting on EAEU 048/2019 Technical Regulation, presenting the position of the Ministry of Environment.
