The National Ozone Unit of the Ministry of Nature Protection of RA launched a series of initiatives dedicated to the ultraviolet radiation (UV), its potential dangers and means of protection. These initiatives are specific in terms of the target group - children aged 0 to 14 years, given their ultimate vulnerability to UV radiation.
In this regard under the public-private partnership framework a participatory decision was made to produce 20,000 copies of information labels which were handed over to local textile companies «Alex Textile», «Voske Kar» and «Satenkar» (Melante) LLCs to be further attached to summer collection of children’s garment produced by the companies.
Following the same logic 4000 labels were handed over to «Mankan» LLC, local producer of children’s soft toys.
Besides, 2500 copies of information bookmarks were published and distributed in the following way: 500 were provided to "Bookinist", "Noyan Tapan" and "Tumanyan Gratun" bookstores, 2000 copies have been provided to the children's libraries operating throughout the country with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
Within the framework of the same initiatives 1000 sun protecting bandanas were produced to be provided to orphanage children aged 0-6 years with the support of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
The information on the importance of the ozone layer, harmful effects of UV radiation and the need for protection contained in the labels and bookmarks has been jointly developed with the Ministry of Health. The initiatives were implemented with the support of the UNIDO.
