On November 25, 2022, the National Ozone Unit of the Ministry of Environment organized a round-table discussion on the topic "Ozone Layer Protection and Innovative Solutions in Architecture and Construction".

The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Urban Development Committee, the National Body of Standardization and Metrology of the Ministry of Economy, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating Engineering Association of Armenia (RAHE) and the National Ozone Unit.

The purpose of the meeting was to bring the professional community and policy makers together to identify sector gaps and harmonize the work of public bodies.

One of the issues on the agenda was the issue of split system air conditioners, which not only spoil the aesthetic appearance of building facades, but also destroy the building itself as a result of constantly flowing water. As a successful example, one of the members of RAHE association A. Astsatryan presented the example of YSU, where the split system air conditioners were replaced by the VRF multi zone system.

Another topic of discussion was the Construction Norm IV-12.02.01-04 "Heating,ventilation and air quality improvement" of the RA, where a reference is made to ozone depleting substances that have been banned years ago.

The meeting laid out the basis for cooperation between the participants to start addressing the above mentioned norm as a priority.
