Four-day summer school was organized on July 20-23, 2021 in Byurakan under the third stage of the awareness raising campaign «Be Aware, Protect the Ozone Layer» jointly with the «Environment and Health» NGO.
The initiative was attended by about 30 students of 7-11 grades from regional schools, as well as teachers and volunteers.
On the first day of the camp, each school presented a draft video script, after which the teams worked with experts to develop both the content and technical parts, and learned the secrets of filming.
On the second day, the participants visited the «Amberd» ozone-measuring meteorological station of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center to get acquainted with the work of Dobson Spectrophotometer and participate in the field measurements.
On the third day, the participants continued the shooting and editing of the video, which was summed up by the Judging Panel on July 23.
The Judging Panel included the UNIDO Country Representative in Armenia, representatives of the Departments of Climate Policy and Atmospheric Policy, experts of the National Ozone Unit of Armenia and «Environment and Health» NGO. The teams presented to the Judging Panel the performed work: videos, thematic accessories and songs.
Participants were awarded with certificates of participation in the «Ozone in Our Lives» summer school by Ms. Anahit Simonyan, UNIDO Country Representative.
We are happy to highlight that one of the most important achievements of the event was the team spirit of the campers. Such events as running in the morning, singing and playing the guitar, visiting the observatory at night to get to know the stars and the planets made the campers' day more meaningful.
The winning video will be announced on September 16, the World Ozone Day.
