New «Refrigeration systems» profession at three colleges in Armenia

On 19 December 2019 the opening ceremony of the «Refrigeration systems» profession (with «Refrigeration Systems Technician»  qualification) was held at Achemyan Regional State College N 2 of Yerevan attended by RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Mr. A. Harutyunyan, RA Minister of Environment Mr. E. Grigoryan, as well as the ministry and college staff.

Minister A. Harutyunyan congratulated on the introduction of the new profession under the HPMP Stage II Project and thanked the Ministry of Environment and the UNDP, noting that this year there had been an unprecedented 100% admission in all three establishments in the «Refrigeration systems» course.

According to the RA Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan, those young people who have chosen the «Refrigeration systems» profession have good prospects for finding a job in the future.

In 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two Ministries and the Ozone Program. A new educational specialty was introduced in the regional state colleges in Yerevan, Armavir and Artashat in the HVAC&R field. The relevant educational standard was developed by the best specialists.

With the support of the UNDP, a material and technical base has been introduced in three institutions. The geography of the project is expected to enlarge to include Syunik, Shirak and other provinces.

The project was funded by the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol, and the scholarships for 45 students are provided from the state budget.
