The National Ozone Unit under the Ministry of Environment of Armenia has developed a series of «Be Aware, Protect the Ozone Layer» educational activities within the framework of the «Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building» Project implemented by UNIDO jointly with the Environment and Health NGO.
The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness on ozone depletion among schoolchildren of 7-11 forms of Yerevan and regions, to equip them with knowledge and skills, and to encourage the involvement of young people in addressing this global environmental challenge.
The first round of educational events started in May. During this stage, on May 4-11, 15 Zoom-webinars were conducted dedicated to the depletion and protection of the ozone layer, attended by circa 450 students and teachers from 240 schools.
The Deputy Minister of Environment of RA Anna Mazmanyan attended one of the webinars greeting the participants, assuring that as a state body it will provide an opportunity for young people to expand their knowledge on these and other environmental topics.
The second stage of the initiative will be aimed at the implementation of the «Life And the Ozone Layer» thematic video contest and the organization of a summer camp.
